We discovered an ad for Fainting Goats from a girl who had raised them for her 4H project. When we visited the small farm to pick them up, her mother asked us to take the whole herd of six. And so we packed them ALL into our mini-van, and brought them home. We soon realized the importance of what had just occurred after visiting the A.L.B.C. web site, that these were rare and endangered animals. In February our three does had five babies in 6 days. All were strong and healthy, though provided with little coats for warmth. Then we came upon the mini-silkie variety and acquired four does. Two of whom I personally bottle fed every 2-6 hours for over three months. They are wonderful animals and we feel very fortunate to be loving guardians of this herd. Each has a distinct personality and knows their name. We do not and will not alter, disbud or wether our goats. And find it unacceptable to do so. Also, though we do have goats from the Texas herd, we will be concentrating on building up the original Tennessee herd goats. As of July 8th, our herd is up to 24.
