A short note on Our Farm's Mission:
We need to clarify the fact that we are a WORKING farm, not a hobby farm and especially not an animal rescue facility. We will accept certain animals as "rescues" but be advised that the animals become OUR property with a "no-strings-attached label" as our ONLY policy, as WE will be feeding, cleaning and tending to the animal's medical needs. Our farm also is NOT the dreaded term "Petting Zoo", "Petting Farm" or the like. This farm is only for the particular rare and endangered livestock we have now and will have in the future. Other animals on the farm, while they may not be on the A.L.B.C.'s list, are used as the commodities they are or the product they produce. This supports the other breeds of animals we have, as well as themselves. This also brings a balance of sorts that produces a wonderful sense of harmony between the species. Also, we have had quite a few incidents with passers-by actually stopping on the side of the roads (and sometimes getting out!) to see the animals. Some have been fed or just by being bothered at a particular time of day it constitutes harrassment. Following the County's protocol, we have posted numerous no trespassing signs, filed a complaint with the sheriff and soon will have "No Parking, Stopping or Standing" signs posted along the roadways! This is for the safety of everyone and the animals. All of our animals are fed special diets and/or are senior citizens so PEEPS, M&Ms and certain restricted veggies don't do them a whole lot of good. Between ourselves and our sponsors they are supplied with high-quality fresh fruits, vegetables and grains.
PLEASE DON'T FEED THE ANIMALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A note on our Eggs:
We do sometimes have surplus eggs available, usually on a Friday in the late afternoon or Saturday, late morning. This does not necessarily happen every weekend! These are available on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED basis only. We don't reserve ahead of time, but we also don't limit amount purchased. Currently available are dark brown/red chicken eggs, blue chicken eggs, Coturnix quail eggs and turkey eggs. (Duck eggs available later this summer). Watch for the signs and the open gates and drive-thru! You can enter off Cuba Road or Old Barrington Road. NO EXCEPTIONS, PLEASE!!
A note on our live sales:
We do sell live animals for pets, show or meat at various times. Goats, quail & doves are available year-round, rabbits year round but meat rabbits generally available Spring through Fall. We usually don't sell our chickens but occasionally have some too. We are now taking reservations for THANKSGIVING TURKEYS this year. We have had the turkeys since hatching and they will be ready between Halloween and Thanksgiving. This year's production turkeys are Royal Palms! We do not do any processing but have it done at a licensed facilty following U.S.D.A. guidelines.
